The Thing I Kept Running From

I didn’t have a drinking problem at first.

I had a pain problem. The drinking just came later — after the divorce, after everything I thought was solid turned out not to be, after I ran out of ways to keep moving fast enough that I didn’t have to think about what was underneath.

Nobody tells you that’s how it works. You don’t wake up one day and decide to fall apart. You just keep choosing the thing that makes it quieter. And then quieter. And then you look up one day and realize how far you’ve gone.

I spent years managing. Not healing — managing. There’s a difference, and for a long time I didn’t know what it was. I thought if I could fix the circumstances — get the right situation, put enough distance between me and my past — I’d finally feel different.

The circumstances were never the problem.

It was always the heart.

That’s what this site is. Not a platform. Not a brand. It’s what happened after I finally stopped running and let God work on the thing that actually needed working on.

I write for people who are tired of surface-level answers. People who’ve tried the quick fixes and found out they don’t hold. People who know something is off but can’t quite name it yet.

If that’s you — you’re in the right place.

Start with the books. Start with the blog. Start wherever you need to.

Just start.
